What Makes Auvillar Special?
Historically Auvillar was an important stronghold in the Gallo-Roman period and housed an affluent community. Evidence has been found to suggest that it was possibly rebuilt in the Middle Ages and its social and economic existence is clearly linked to the river Garonne.
Today the beautiful village of about 1,000 residents has many charming attractions with a weekly farmers market, local restaurants, and a variety of shops including a bakery, grocer, newsagent, post office, a chemist and local produce gift shop. There is a hairdresser too or if you feel the need for a pamper session there is even a beautician!
